Market Wrap: Sensex Surges 483 Pts, Nifty Tops 22,750 Led by Banking & IT Rally

Indian equity benchmark indices started the week on a strong note, registering solid gains driven by robust buying in banking and IT heavyweights. The BSE Sensex surged 482.92 points (or +0.66%) to close at 73,606.75, while the NSE Nifty 50 rose by 153.20 points (or +0.68%) to settle at 22,753.20.

Sectorally, Nifty Bank, Financial Services, and Nifty IT led the market trajectory, advancing over 1% each, whereas FMCG and Consumer Durables witnessed selective profit-booking. ICICI Bank, Infosys, Reliance Industries, and Axis Bank featured among the top market gainers, while Titan Company, Britannia Industries, and Cipla were among the key drag on indices.

Positive Asian cues and overnight stability on Wall Street underpinned market sentiment. Macroeconomic triggers remained favorable as Brent crude oil eased toward $78 per barrel, easing inflation concerns. Meanwhile, preliminary data showed Net FII inflows turning positive alongside steady DII support, while the Indian Rupee appreciated slightly against the US Dollar to close at 83.15.
