Indian equity benchmarks logged steady gains on Tuesday as positive momentum swept through frontline counters. The BSE Sensex rose 308.49 points (+0.42%) to close at 74,459.53, while the NSE Nifty 50 gained 116.35 points (+0.51%) to settle at 23,053.10, comfortably reclaiming the psychological 23,000 threshold.
Sectoral performance was anchored by Nifty Auto, Private Bank, and IT indices, which advanced between 0.6% and 1.1%. Heavyweights such as HDFC Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Infosys provided firm support to the indices, whereas minor profit-booking was observed in FMCG and Metal constituents, with ITC and Tata Steel ending slightly lower.
On the macroeconomic front, sentiment was aided by easing crude prices, with Brent crude stabilizing near $74 per barrel. The Indian Rupee traded in a narrow range against the US dollar amid stable global yields. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) remained consistent net buyers, helping absorb selective Foreign Institutional Investor (FII) selling and reinforcing resilience across broader market segments.
