Sensex Advances 363 Pts Led by Banking Gains, Nifty Ends Near 23,900 Mark

Indian equity benchmarks concluded Friday's session on a positive note, supported by strength in heavyweight financial stocks. The BSE Sensex gained 362.57 points (or +0.48%) to settle at 76,515.43, while the NSE Nifty 50 edged up by 24.25 points (or +0.10%) to finish at 23,897.70.

Sectoral performance remained mixed, with Private Banks, Financial Services, and select IT majors driving the headline indices higher. Conversely, broader market sentiment saw mild consolidation as Metals, FMCG, and Realty counters experienced modest profit-taking into the weekend. Top index gainers included leading private lenders and tech heavyweights, while commodity-linked shares lagged.

On the macroeconomic front, persistent domestic institutional investor (DII) inflows cushioned market dips against selective foreign institutional investor (FII) selling. The Indian Rupee traded in a tight, stable band against the US Dollar, while range-bound global crude oil prices and steady cues from European markets helped sustain risk appetite across key large-cap counters.
